What we do
89up’s impact distribution gives your film life beyond its release, making sure your story creates real change. Our producers have worked on Oscar winning films and major international documentaries.
“Impact distribution” is the process of turning your film into an instrument for change.
89up runs impact distribution for online documentaries, global cinematic releases, terrestrial broadcast and video on demand. We help filmmakers tell your stories to the audiences who care.
We work closely with our clients to craft an overall narrative and use analytical tools to identify the right audience and make sure your film reaches them.
Our influencer screenings mean you can present your film in intimate surroundings, ensuring the right people engage personally with your message.
Social media seeding, using content created with you, spreads the word to a wider audience.
Press and media engagement puts the filmmaker centre-stage, highlighting the themes and issues raised by your film in the places it matters most.
Our campaigns are designed to maximise interaction and engage audiences across platforms. Impact means starting and maintaining a conversation.
Case Study CITIZENFOUR
Working with BRITDOC, we managed the UK and European impact distribution of the Oscar-winning documentary about NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden. Our state-of-the-art digital analytics tools enabled us to map out the key influencers not already engaged with the issue.
The film premiere was the number 1 trending topic on Twitter and over 1,000 thought leaders in the fields of journalism, technology, telecoms, law, and activism attended our events. From private screenings, cinematic releases and parliamentary screenings, to political festivals and screenings in army bases our events team delivered a range of ways audiences could engage with the film. This meant we broadened the scope of interest and targeted uncovered audiences.
“It’s always a total pleasure working with 89up. Good people doing great work.” Jess Search - Britdoc
